Teachers attended more than 17 million hours of training programs in 12 different subjects varying from how to use web 2.0 devices to education in the changing world, from social media and communication to expert teaching and head teaching courses as a part of Summer Term Professional Work Program carried out between June 20 and 24 on ÖBA.
In addition to professional development training programs, ÖBA offered personal improvement training programs such as management of hard conditions and scientific leadership.
Noting that ÖBA provided the Ministry the opportunity to active practice based training approach and it became the meeting point of teachers where they exchange their experiences with the colleagues, academicians and experts, Minister Özer said that 895,650 teachers and administrators attended the 5-day Summer Term Professional Work Program.
Özer stressed that the Ministry of National Education has set three prior areas in order to maintain equal opportunity in education and supporting teachers in their professional development is among these important prior issues adding that, "Each teacher who participated in the work program between June 20 and 24 attended 2.37 training programs in average and total number of certificates given to teachers reached 2 million 347 thousand and 264. At the end of the five day program, each teacher received 17 hours of training. 320,022 teachers completed at least one training program, 263,393 teachers completed two training programs, 121,965 teachers completed three training programs, 63,882 teachers completed four training programs and 126, 388 teachers completed five and more training programs."
Number of teachers attending training programs gradually increases
Minister Özer noted the number of teachers attending qualified training programs that respond to expectations gradually increases and average education per teacher was around 45 hours between 2015 and 2020 and this figure reached 94 hours in 2021.
He reminded that the number of certificates given to teachers was approximately 1 million and 400 thousand between 2015 and 2020 and this figure increased to 2 million and 900 thousand in 2021.
Özer stressed that the Ministry has presented 5 million 775 thousand and 837 certificates to teachers and administrators in the first six months of 2022 and the number of certificates increased approximately 5 times when compared to the figures of first six months of 2021.
