SECOND TERM MEETING OF THE TURKEY-SRI LANKA JOINT ECONOMIC COMMISSION HELD

Making a speech at the 2nd term of Turkey-Sri Lanka Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting, Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk said that parts came together in order to review the commercial and economic relations between two countries since the last JEC meeting which was held five years ago and set new goals.
 
Noting that 2020 was an extraordinary year for the entire world due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Selçuk stressed that people must focus on the recovery process in the aftermath of the pandemic. 
 
Selçuk stated that the 2nd term meeting of Turkey-Sri Lanka Joint Economic Commission will confirm the determination and political will to use commercial and economic potential more effectively adding that, "We are planning to evaluate all cooperation possibilities in many fields such as commerce, services, civil aviation, industry, agriculture, education and health. Moreover, we believe that it will be useful to discuss required activities and cooperation channels that will encourage the private sector in this regard."
 
Stating that Turkey focused on reinforcement of its health system, keeping the business life alive and assisting people to adapt to the new normal as a part of its struggle against Covid-19, Selçuk also mentioned the impact  of the pandemic on education.
 
"We have started the largest distance education program in our history in an effort to prevent any shortcoming in education. The state used all the means available to reach out to all students through an online education platform namely EBA. We intensively and effectively used the distance education system and the EBA platform became the most visited education website of the entire world," said Selçuk adding that "We are ready to share our experience in this field".
