PATENT APPLICATION RECORD FROM VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS: AN 8 THOUSAND PERCENT INCREASE

In line with the goal of encouraging students to apply for inventions, patents and utility models which is also stated in the Eleventh Development Plan (2019-2023), in addition to the original works of students and teachers in vocational and technical education institutions that include inventions; the efforts and studies of Ministry of National Education to protect the intellectual and industrial property rights of new products and designs and to raise awareness in schools increasingly continue.
 
Making an evaluation on the intellectual property activities of vocational high schools on the occasion of April 26th World Intellectual Property Day, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said that they have been mobilized in vocational and technical education as they did in all levels of education in the last twenty years.
 
Noting that the most important factor in the development of countries is to ensure the spread of intellectual property culture related to patents, utility models, brands and designs, Minister Özer underlined that they work day and night to raise awareness towards intellectual and industrial property in vocational and technical education institutions and to register and commercialize original products, projects and designs. Explaining that as a result of the studies, Özer announced that the number of patent, utility model, design and trademark applications increased by 8 thousand percent in the first quarter of 2023 and reached from 254 to 20 thousand 347 and the number of registrations increased by 3 thousand 800 percent and reached from 63 to 2 thousand 438.
 
Stating that 184 registered products have been commercialized, Özer stressed that thanks to this, more than 200 million income has been provided to the revolving fund of vocational and technical education institutions.
