This year, the Ministry of National Education has planned a series of activities with the theme of "well-being and happiness of children" in order to celebrate the National Sovereignty and Children's Day which marks 101st anniversary of the Turkish Parliament.
 
Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk announced the road map of celebrations in his telegram account by saying, "Every week belongs to them but this week is specially announced as the week of the children... We would like to give happy moments as gifts to children as parents and teachers on this special occasion. It is important for us to make you smile during such a period. I wish happy days to all children."
 
Activities began on April 21, 2021 at 10.00 o'clock with the meeting of Minister Selçuk, Child Development and Early Childhood Educator Prof. Dr. Belma Tuğrul and Science Board member Pediatrician Prof. Dr. Ateş Kara with parents. This online meeting named, "Mental and Physical Health of Children during the Pandemic" will be aired live on the YouTube channel of the Ministry of National Education.
 
Later on the same day, Minister Selçuk will attend an open air meeting with students living in Altındağ and Mamak districts of Ankara by considering distancing and hygiene rules in line with the pandemic conditions. The main theme of the meeting will be social and emotional status of students during the pandemic.
 
On April 22, Minister Selçuk went to Mardin in order to meet children during an open air activity and rode bicycles with students. As a part of his visit, Selçuk met with his colleagues in the city and inaugurated the "Mardin Fairy Tale Home".
 
On April 23, Selçuk visited Atatürk's Mausoleum. Minister placed a wreath on the mausoleum and signed the special memorial book. After the visit, the Minister had an online meeting with children from 81 cities of the country.
 
Minister Selçuk also attended the opening ceremony of the "Ankara Fairy Tale Home" on April 23.
 
On April 23, TRT EBA channels broadcasted special programs about the joy of this special day.
