Yakakent District Governorship started an effort to recover the blackboards that were left idle and removed to the warehouses after the transition to the smart board system.

Within the scope of the project carried out in order to use the blackboards that were kept in the warehouses for years, at the first stage, 15 food stands were prepared and placed in various parts of the city to provide food and water for street animals.

The food stands were decorated with various patterns and a Yunus Emre quote: "We love the created for the Creator's sake" were written on the stands.

Yakakent District Governor Fatih Eroğlu said in his statement that they carried out a work to protect street animals.

Stating that all the old whiteboards they have will be used, Eroğlu said, "All the food stands made of wood that remain idle in our schools, benefiting from recycling. Because we will put them in streets we painted the stands and applied various patterns on them. We put flower, cat and dog patterns."

Expressing that the food stands will be placed in front of public institutions, mosque gardens and schools, Eroğlu said that the officials here will control the food and water.

Emphasizing that they aim to contribute to the feeding of street animals with this project, Eroğlu said: "We want society and street animals to have strong communication. Instead of throwing these animals out we want to reintroduce them to life by fostering them. This is our sole purpose. Since this year is declared as the Yunus Emre Year, we put Yunus Emre's wise saying on the street and other animals on our food stands. There are already certain duties imposed on the public with the updated law on animal rights regarding the feeding of street animals. We will fulfill this duty with this project."

Eroğlu noted that public personnel took part in the construction of the stands, and the food and containers were provided by philanthropists.

Stating that they are very happy with this project Özlem Köker, one of the residents at Yakakent, said: "We also carried on a work to feed the animals. It is very precious to me. I thank everyone for coming up with this idea. These animals belong to this world, they did not fall from the sky. People should take care of them."
