MORE THAN 3 MILLION STUDENTS, PARENTS AND TEACHERS ATTENDED AWARENESS TRAINING PROGRAMS ABOUT ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

The Ministry of National Education has been organizing training programs for teachers, students and parents in order to raise awareness about the elimination of violence.
 
Needs of parents and students are defined and prioritized according to the data obtained from the e-Guidance module.
 
531,491 students, 19,142 teachers and 135,736 parents attended training programs aiming at raising awareness about elimination of violence, peer bullying, anger management and positive attitude development.
  
Pursuant to articles concerning negative impact of internet and cyber bullying, the Ministry organized training programs about conscious use of Internet, technology addiction and prevention of cyber bullying in April 2022 and 1 million 245 thousand and 707 secondary school students attended these programs. Again in April, the Ministry provided awareness training programs about domestic violence and violence against women t0 149 thousand and 839 students.
  
Number of women enrolled in courses organized at the public education centers between April 1 and April 27, 2022 was 673,797.
 
Directorate General for Basic Education has organized consultation meetings in Ankara, Iğdır, Antalya and İstanbul as a part of "10.000 Schools in Basic Education" Project which was designed in order to increase schooling rate of female students and provide equal opportunity in education which are important indicators in the elimination of violence against women.
 
As a part of Elimination of Violence against Women Year Action Plan, the Ministry has been organizing systematic training programs. Minister Özer stated that the Ministry is acting in line with its "zero tolerance" policy against not only women but also peer bullying and all kinds of violence.
 
"Our Ministry works in an effort to be the biggest supporter of elimination of all kinds of violence. We do not only organize training programs but also raise awareness within our Ministry. Number of female teachers in total of 1 million 200 thousand teachers is higher than male teachers. 60 percent of teachers are women. We support positive discrimination for women in administrative positions," added Özer.
