Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk addressed students through the TRT EBA channel on the occasion of October 29 Republic Day.

Noting that he was happy to meet with students through the TRT EBA channel on the 97th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic, Minister Selçuk said, " The Republic is the common value of our people. What do you think the Republic means? Your teachers must have told you that it means a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives. Of course, you cannot define 97 years with a single sentence. The Republic is a people based administration style. It derives its power from people or in other words from us."

Selçuk stressed that the Republic provides the opportunity for everyone and every voice to live together and went on to say:

"It is a state where everybody is working not only for their own good but for other people. You must work for the rights of your classmates as much as you defend your own rights. You also have to take the responsibility."

"Today, we have to think about the value that the Republic added to our lives. The Republic which was founded 97 years ago after a long and hard fight in every front is the most valuable heritage from our ancestors. I would like to thank Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades and all people who gave this Republic."
