MINISTER ÖZER: WE DETERMINED THE INCREASE RATE IN PRIVATE SCHOOL TUITION FEES AS 65 PERCENT

Making a statement after the meeting in which the increase in the tuition fees of private schools next year was discussed, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer noted that the increase in the quality of private education institutions and the support they need for their services were also evaluated comprehensively.
 
Explaining that the Ministry of National Education determines the next year's increase on behalf of all students and parents by taking the PPI and CPI rates announced in January into consideration, Özer announced that they decided to make a change in the increase calculation this year. Özer, "We decided to determine the price of 2023 based on the consumer price index rather than the producer price index."
 
Özer stated that in the context of low inflation expectations in 2023 and supporting parents in this process, the Ministry of National Education decided to set this year's increase rate in tuition as 65 percent.
 
Stating that all representatives of private education institutions expressed their opinion that the increase was insufficient, Özer said, "... But, as the Government and the Ministry of National Education, we have decided to set the new price by taking the inflation expectations in 2023 and the consumer price index into consideration. We also want to support our parents. "We have taken such a decision, and I hope we will put this decision into practice as of tomorrow. I wish the new decision to be beneficial to all our students and parents in private education institutions."
 
Thanking the sector representatives in his speech, Özer said, "Although the sector representatives do not accept this increase, I hope as the ministry and private education institutions we will overcome the difficulties by supporting each other."
