Minister Özer got together with parents and teachers who attended the seminar organized as a part of orientation program and told parents that they would come to school with their children on the second day of the orientation.
When Minister Özer asked teachers if they were excited, they responded, "Very much." Then Özer said that schools are the places where the future of the country is established and any effort for reinforcing the school environment is the best investment.
Mentioning that the Ministry has inaugurated 1,407 new kindergartens and 10 thousand and 200 new preschool classrooms this year, Özer stated, "We made important investments in an effort to increase schooling rates in preschool education. There will be a kindergarten in every neighborhood. Preschool education is crucial for equal opportunity in education. There is a significant difference between the success of children who enrolled in preschool education and children who did not. We have decided to inaugurate 3 thousand new kindergartens in every part of Türkiye in order to minimize these success differences."
Cleaning personnel
Özer noted that preparation budgets are directly sent to schools this year for the first time and parents do not have the obligation to make donations.
Addressing parents, Özer said, "You will only talk about how our children will get quality of education, what can be done to enrich education opportunities and how we can carry our schools to a better level. Our Ministry responds to all the needs of schools. We allocated 3,1 billion liras for the new school year preparations. This budget will be used for purchasing cleaning supplies, stationary, minor repairs, education materials and labs."
Özer stated that 60,000 cleaning personnel are already employed at schools adding that the Ministry personnel worked hard during the summer for the new school preparations.
Face to face education
Minister Özer stated that his Ministry distributed free text books and free supplementary sources for all students adding that, "This new school year will be more productive. We will adamantly continue face-to-face education with your support like we did last year."
Orientation began with parents
The Ministry of National Education organized guidance services and orientation training programs for preschool education and first grade students and seminars for parents as a part of 2022-2023 school year.
For the first time in its history, the Ministry prepared a new implementation during orientation period between September 5 and 9 in order to reinforce "children-family-teacher" cooperation. As a part of this new implementation, preschool and first grade teachers will attend face-to-face briefing meetings with parents.
Teachers will inform parents about the school environment, education-training activities and programs to parents during these briefings. Moreover, parents are informed about activities which will support their children's orientation to the school environment.
Students will come to school with their parents on the second day of the orientation program
On the second day of the orientation program, parents will come to school with their children. They will have the opportunity to learn more about classrooms, guidance services, library, school garden, entrance and exit points of schools. Parents will also meet school administrators.
On the third day of the orientation program, teachers will have group activities with students in order to establish close communication.
