MEB PUBLISHES GUIDELINES FOR 2023 CENTRAL LGS EXAM

Making a statement on the LGS Guidelines, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer shared that the central exam will be held across the country, including the provinces in the earthquake zone, on June 4, 2023. The applications for the exam will be made centrally by the Ministry on April 3-13, except for students who are abroad and not registered in the e-School system and students in provinces where a state of emergency was declared due to earthquakes. Özer underlined that they have taken special precautions for the students in Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, Şanlıurfa, which are the provinces where a state of emergency was declared due to the earthquake Stating that students registered in 10 provinces will be able to take the exam in other provinces if they want, Özer said that they will be able to choose the province and district where they will take the exam during the application period. Özer noted that the schools for the students who did not choose any province or district in the provinces where a state of emergency has been declared due to the earthquake, will be determined by the Ministry.  
 
No change in the exam format
Noting that there is no change in the LGS central exam format regarding its sessions, durations, the number of questions and the course distribution, Özer said that just like last year, the exam will be held in two sessions in 2023. Noting that students will be asked a total of 90 multiple-choice questions, Minister Özer said that they will not be responsible for the courses of the second semester.
 
The exam entrance documents will be published on May 26
The guideline includes the procedures and principles regarding the central LGS exam to be held in order to select the 8th grade students in the public and private secondary schools, Imam Hatip secondary schools and temporary education centers for science high schools, social sciences high schools, project schools, and for the Anatolian technical programs of the vocational and technical Anatolian high schools.
 
All 8th grade students from the public, private and Imam Hatip secondary schools will be able to see their information regarding their applications for the central exam on the e-School Parent Information System as of April 3, 2023.
 
The application process will be done electronically. Students whose information is not up-to-date will report this to the school directorates they are registered with. School directorates will complete the necessary update procedures by checking the students' information (such as photograph, MERNİS-civil registry, compulsory foreign language, exemption status, equivalency, exam precaution service) until April 13, 2023. School directorates will be responsible for the up-to-dateness of the information of students in electronic platforms.
 
The location of the exam, exam hall, desk queue number, exam precaution service will be announced on the e-School Parent Information System on May 26.
 
Exam entrance documents with photos of the students will be received electronically by the school directorates as of May 26 and will be sealed, approved and kept ready in the exams hall and on the desks where the student will take the exam.
 
Parents of students who are in other provinces due to compelling reasons such as transference, compulsory change of the residence, coming from abroad, change of location due to appointment, etc., will apply to the provincial or district directorate of national education located in the province where students want to take the exam, with petitions and documents describing the status of the student until 30 May. The petitions will be evaluated by the Regional Examination Executive Board to be formed before the exam. The students whose applications are approved will be allowed to participate in the exam.
 
In case of natural disasters, quarantines, fires and similar extraordinary situations, the examination place of the student can be changed with the approval of the General Directorate of Measurement, Evaluation and Examination Services upon the proposal of the Regional Examination Executive Board.
 
Exam results will be announced on 26 June
According to the guideline, the first session of the exam will start at 09.30 Turkish time and the second session will start at 11.30. In the first session, students will be asked a total of 50 questions from Turkish, the History of Turkish Revolution and Kemalism, religious culture and moral knowledge and foreign language courses. Students will have 75 minutes to answer the questions. In the second session, students will be asked a total of 40 questions from mathematics and science courses, and students will have 80 minutes to answer the questions.
 
The results of the central exam will be announced through the "www.meb.gov.tr"on June 26. Exam result documents will not be sent to students by mail.
