Deputy Minister of National Education Sadri Şensoy noted during his speech at the workshop that Bursa was elected as the 2022 Cultural Capital of the Turkic World and it was meaningful to organize the workshop in the city.
Şensoy stressed that there is no doubt that the workshop will enhance the language campaign carried out by the Ministry and supported by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan adding that they aim at encouraging young people to adopt permanent learning approach and language awareness in the modern world when information goes through daily updates and expectations keep changing.
Noting that the Ministry has been working in order to design what to do for the future of children, Şensoy stated, "It is very protect and teach Turkish which is one of the mostly spoken languages in the world as our country is located at the intersection point of east and west in terms of geography and culture. Turkish is a common language identity for Turks and related communities living in the hinterland of the Ottoman Empire and our country is their protecting power."
He went on to say that the Ministry of National Education prioritizes teaching Turkish as a mother language, as a foreign language and also for Turkic communities and accepts Turkish as the language of science, culture and art.
"Due to this reason, we continue to produce politics and take required steps within this framework. I would like to express that the views and suggestions presented in this workshop are highly appreciated," said Şensoy.
Meanwhile, Director General of the Head Council of Education and Morality Prof. Dr. Cihad Demirli stressed that language is the memory of a nation and every nation that wants to endure its presence in the stage of history should protect its language.
The Ministry of National Education has launched the language campaign in order to fulfill its obligation to maintain the originality of the Turkish language, Demirli stated.
He went on to say that, "We focus on teaching Turkish to bilingual and Turkic people as a mother language or foreign language. Within this framework, we have founded Turkish and Language Education Research and Development Center. In addition to Turkish, this center also carries out activities in English, Spanish, Germany, Arabic, French and Russian. Today, many countries carry out projects and campaigns for Turkish education under the roof of various different institutions."
