A GUIDELINE CONCERNING MEASURES THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN IN CASE OF A COVID-19 POSITIVE CASE AT SCHOOLS IS PREPARED

The new school years will begin tomorrow. The Ministry of National Education is adopting every means available in an effort to prevent any other interruption in education and has taken new measures against the  Covid-19 pandemic.
 
The guidelines that should be followed in case of a Covid-19 positive case at schools which was prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Health will be implemented in the entire country.
 
Within this context, if a student is diagnosed with Covid-19 in a class then all students in the same class will be monitored but will continue to come to school. Teachers of the class will also be monitored and continue to work.
 
Teachers teaching at this class and classmates of the diagnosed student will be checked for symptoms twice a day and their fevers will be measured. The data will be recorded by the school administration. The school administration will try to change the times of the breaks of this class.
 
If any classmate shows a symptom or has high fever, he or she will be referred to a medical facility.
 
In case of a second Covid-19 diagnosis in the same class within ten days, the rest of the students will be considered as having close contact to the Covid-19 virus. These students will be sent home and will be closely monitored for 14 days. 
 
If a teacher is diagnosed positive for Covid-19 and if the teacher has no other risky contacts outside the school, all students in the class where the first positive case was detected will be considered to have close contact. These students will be sent home and will be closely monitored for 14 days. 
 
In such case, all teachers at the school will be considered to have contacted the ill person and will continue to work under the condition of wearing masks. Teachers who are considered to have contact will be monitored for symptoms twice a day and these symptoms as well as their fever values will be recorded.
 
In case a teacher shows a symptom or has high fever, he or she will be referred to a medical institution; he or she will either go to back to work or will be considered as positive case according to the assessment of the medical institution.
 
If the teacher has contacted a Covid-19 case outside the school, then other teachers and students at the classroom where the first case was diagnosed will be considered to have contacted the virus and will be monitored for symptoms and high fever twice a day for 14 days by the school administration. Those who have symptoms or high fever will be referred to a medical facility and will either go to back to school or will be considered as positive case according to the assessment of the medical institution.
 
If a teacher who gives lectures at the classroom is diagnosed positive for Covid-19, his students will be considered to have contacted the person with an illness and will continue to go to school under the condition of wearing masks. Other students will also be considered to have contact and will continue to work with masks.
 
Teachers who are considered to have contact and students of the Covid-19 patient teachers will be monitored for symptoms and high fever twice a day for 14 days and results be recorded by the school administration. Those who have symptoms or high fever will be referred to a medical institution; they will either go back to school or considered as positive case according to the assessment of the medical facility.
 
If a student in a school bus is diagnosed positive for Covid19, other students who are using the same school bus will be considered to have been in contact with the student and will continue to go to school under the condition of wearing masks. In such a case, the bus driver will also be considered to have contact the person with the illness and will continue to work under the condition of wearing a mask.
 
"Those who are considered to have contact" and "those who are considered to have close contact"
According to the guidelines, following details are available for "those who are considered to have contact" and "those who are considered to have close contact to a Covid-19 patient":
 
Those who are considered to have contact with Covid-19 patient:
Teachers and students of these teachers will be monitored for symptoms and high fever twice a day for 14 days and results be recorded by the school administration. Those who have symptoms or high fever will be referred to a medical facility; they will either go back to school or considered as positive case according to the assessment of the medical institution.
 
Those who are considered to have close contact with a Covid-19 patient:
In case more than one students is diagnosed with Covid-19 simultaneously in the same class, all other classmates will be considered to have close contact with the Covid-19 patient. These students will be sent home and will be closely monitored for 14 days.
 
In case of positive case in preschool and kindergartens is detected
If a teacher or any students is diagnosed with Covid-19, the school will be sterilized according to the measures that should be taken at schools within the context of Covid-19 in addition to routine cleaning activities.
 
If a teacher or a student is diagnosed positive for Covid-19; he or she will be isolated and treated according to the Guidelines Concerning Covid-19 Pandemic Management and Schedule. When a family member of a teacher or student is diagnosed positive, he or she will be considered to have close contact with the person with the desease.
 
If the case of a positive case diagnosis is in preschool class, all students in the class will be considered to have close contact; they will be sent home and will be closely monitored for 14 days.
 
If case of a positive case diagnosis in a kindergarten, all students in the class will be considered as having close contact with the petient; they will be sent home and will be closely monitored for 14 days.
