79 THOUSAND 162 CITIZENS BENEFIT FROM PUBLIC EDUCATION COURSES OPENED IN THE EARTHQUAKE REGION

The studies carried out by the Ministry of National Education General Directorate of Lifelong Learning to ensure that citizens have access to education within the scope of lifelong learning continue in the disaster areas as well.
 
Stating that a total of 66 support and coordination centers have been opened as part of lifelong learning, 10 buildings, 45 tents, 10 containers and 1 mobile vehicle, in accordance with the situation of the region, in ten quake-hit provinces since the disaster struck, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said that services in public education centers and advanced technical schools for girls are carried out. Noting that 79 thousand 162 citizens have benefited from the 5 thousand 820 courses opened in the support and coordination centers so far, Özer shared that a total of 6 thousand 339 Ministry personnel, consisting of 5 thousand 494 qualified instructors were assigned as instructors in these courses.
 
Pointing out that the installation of 102 textile production machines has been completed in the support and coordination centers as part of the activities in advanced technical schools for girls and public education centers, Özer said that a total of 6 thousand 200 products including bed clothes, pajamas, t-shirts, skirts, baby blankets and underwear, are produced by these machines . Özer said that the citizens staying in the tents are provided with the tailoring service.
 
Announcing that the procurement process of 375 textile production machines has been started to be used in public education and support coordination centers in the earthquake zone, Minister Özer said that they expect the procurement process to be completed within 10 days.
 
Emphasizing that in addition to formal education, they also offer multidimensional access to education within the scope of lifelong learning in order to provide education opportunities to citizens of all age groups, Minister Özer stressed that they attach great importance to the participation of citizens in earthquake region as much as to the reuniting children in the disaster area with education. Özer said that they will continue to provide services to citizens through social and cultural activities in these centers in the earthquake zone.
